What do you think of this schematic for a nice 100w subwoofer amp?. Anything you could improve? The powersupply would include a 15V 300VA, maybe higher and lots of capacitance.

Well, I have a lot of complaints. This seems to be a solution to run bridged 3886t's at 4 ohms. or, to put it another way, reduce the rail voltage to a level that one will tolerate 2 ohms. The 3886 is not designed for this, and will probably go into SPIKE protection.
Solution-PARALLED 3886'S with a 23/23vac (at 4 amp) transformer, giving 30-30 rails, dividing the power at about 38W each between 2 devices. That's the right level of power for these babies. If it's eight ohms, ONE ic at 30-30 DC, for subwoofer use. Discretes will make a better sub amp, at 36-36v, or even more. |
