Hi all,
Krell says it's patented - so does somebody has a patent number for it? I can't find anything on the patent website.* A schematic would also do ;-)) Have fun, Hannes * "Domestic electric weight balance with lacquered panel" does not count

1992 version of Sustained Plateau Bias Krell is patent (5,331,291) which includes basic sense circuits
Latest Krells use a microprocessor plus sensors for both output current and output temperature to selectively switch-in parallel lower value resistors in the bias adjustment circuit. Google patents will allow you to get a pdf. For my DIY Class-A amps I include a microswitch on the PCB with a mechanical push rod going to the rear panel which allows me to set two bias points by switching in a lower value parallel resistor in the bias circult. Two bias points seems to fit my listening needs, and the bias never changes during the music. |

Thanks for the patent #!
Great, I already thought before that it's going to be complicated But hey, microprocessor controlled bias sounds like a nice idea! Have fun, Hannes
