possible replacement for sap16n and p using conventional bce output

Hi there everyone currently working onb a cambridge a4

The output uses sap16 is there anyway to add normal bce trannys in there place with possible emitter resistors etc..

i have schematic od cambrige p500 power amp which is same circuit....


Problem is it is in pdf any one interesrted i can send to you

The SAP devices are still available from Rapid or Profusion. Their replacements are the STD03 devices which will need an emitter resistor. The inbuilt emitter resistor was the weak point in the SAP devices, which is why Sanken started making the STD devices which simply exclude the emitter resistor.

The SAP devices are darlingtons with built in diodes for bias purposes, so you would need to have a power device, a driver, and then a VBE multiplier. By the time you have retrofitted them, you may as well build another amplifier into the box.

I was just wondering thats all as have a few bits lying around,and i wish to sell this amp on after repair so was trying to keep costs down

i can get 2 sap15n for 6 pounds inc post off fleabay but i need other pair also...cheers
