Yes, this is possible.
To make 2 LM317 circuits. Identical. And then you stack them one on top of each other. One for the positive half and one for the negative half. One hook only: You have to use Transformer with 2 Separate windings! ( one with a common middlepoint for Ground, will not work ) So make sure you buy 2 x 12 Volt trafo. Or what voltage you will use.

![]() The idea is like this. This is for higher current (LM338). For preamplifiers and currents max like 1 Ampere we use LM317. Websource: http://www.pedjarogic.com/gc/supplies.htm

I'm glad to see you guys hav e gone down the LM3xx route. These are great regulators and bes t of all their performace is good, consistent and they work every time.

Read the serie "using 3 pins regulators" on this website: http://www.acoustica.org.uk/ You can also find more reference on this forum doing a quick search.

I might go slightly simpler since 1a per circuit is just overhead room.
I can go with different capacitors. You sure I want not low impedance feeing the JFETs? I could go with some BGs or FCs instead of FMs. |

Low impedance caps are better suited for switching supplies where ripple is in Khz or even Mhz, not Hz.

Yeah , just standard caps will do (high temp. maybe??)
derate them good (35v-50v), use multiple caps on each rail (better than 1 big one) you are good to go.

I am going to put a .1ohm resistor between the capacitors and the output lead on the LM137T's and it will fix it.
