Hacking a boom box for computer AC'7

I have a boom box which I hacked to use full range speakers.

The 3 watts output sounds great from the older Sharp box.

But the cd player has begun to skip and one of the tape decks has been out for ages but both AM and FM work.

All I know about electronics is a slight ability to solder wires.

Can a boom box accept the signal from the AC'7 jacks of my computer motherboard? I would want to be able to select PC in place of CD
on the front switch of the Sharp.

This can be done with AUX on my Yamaha RP U100.

Can a set of jacks be installed on the boom box to go to the sound card on the motherboard?

I think you mean you want to input a line-level source? Probably via a stereo mini-jack, such as those in ipods?

You need to locate where the line level signals are inside the machine, and re-route with one (stereo) or two cables to a stereo mini jack. Signal ground, left channel and right channel needs routing. I assume you can live without the built in CD player, for example?

If you are lucky it will be obvious looking at cables between the CD-player module and the source select / amp board, which things are what. I.e. with printing at the connectors. If you are unlucky it's all one big board.
