My good ol' Carver PM-300 finally died after 20yrs! I opened it up to see what was wrong with it and it looks like the internal power supply is shorted out. When I jiggle it around it arks and then blows the fuse. I called the Sunfire Corp. in Washington and they no longer service Carver amps...they referred me to a guy in Oregon who will fix it for a flat rate of $299.00. This seems excessive in price to me and was wondering if anyone on here could fix it for less? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello here is a place you can send your carver amp for repair for cheaper..
Rita Helm and I (Bob Carver) have opened a new shop for fixing and restoring all vintage Carver Corp, Phase Linear and Sunfire audio equipment. We also restore ALL vintage tube amps as well. Rita's Vintage Audio Repair. Each unit will be repaired, updated, gone through from top to bottom, and restored to the same performance and condition as it was the day it was built. A flat fee of $170 dollars + shipping covers it all. Our minimum inspection fee is $35 dollars. The address is: Rita Helm, Old Sunfire building 1920 Bickford Ave Snohomish WA 98290 Phone 425-530-9557. Ask for Harry Abbott. |

Looks like Bob and Rita have a new web address. The rates have increased of course. Check here: Rates - Carver Service. I just emailed them looking for specs on some fan motors or replacements.
