I have a Dayton 70W plate amp that I'm getting some hum from. The 60Hz hum happens no matter how I have it connected. Even if I have the amp on it's own circuit with nothing connected to it, I still get the hum as soon as I switch it on. Adjusting the gain on the amp doens't seem to affect the volume of the hum, so I guess that means the leakage into the signal path is happening after that section of the amp?
I have reason to believe the amp has done this right from the day I got it, but I'm using it in a different project where it's now audible if there is silence in the room. Any suggestions on what do to? |

It hums with nothing connected to it? If so, return it to PE.
