Hi,
Can anyone recommend a mount for panel-mounting an LED? There's so many out there, and some require lenses, etc. I'm losing my mind trying to understand the differences between them all. If anyone has a mount they've used & like, let me know. Thanks much, mnr102 |

T1/4 LEDs (the leaded ones that look like a top hat with a tall dome) have a plastic insert with a rear clip. You stick the round insert in the panel hole, snap the LED in and secure with the clip. They work good.
Some fancy LEDs come with a chrome bezel and lock nut. Even easier. Surface mount LED's usually need some kind of acrylic light pipe - a little harder for DIY but still possible. Use these if you want something other than a round indicator. The rectangular and triangular leaded LEDs are harder because you have to cut a perfect opening in the front panel (there's no bezel available) This is very hard (for me at least - no triangular drill bits)

Thanks for ideas Ian. I ended up with what I believe is first on your list. Mouser part 749-CR-104. It's a span-in panel mount, w/ a retaining ring that gets pressed on from the back.
Thanks again. |
