Hi I'm building the Project 27 from ESP. I'm trying to build the power supply right now as described here http://sound.westhost.com/psu-wiring.htm
I had two 4700uf caps and I think that would be enough, but I also have two 3300uf caps. Can I put a 4700 and 3300 in parallel on each side? Or will that mess with the DC ripple? Thanks a lot -Josh |

Yes, you can use both capacitors.

now look at doubling them up again to give +-16mF per channel, even tripling to +-24mF.

What would doubling or tripling the filter caps do?

increase the charging currents through the rectifiers in return for lower ripple and lower impedance from the PSU.
But, it forces you to adopt strict separation of PSU charging circuit from the relatively clean Audio Ground circuits.
