Default cascaded servos

In a multiple stage amp (e.g. a phonopre) one might consider to use two or more servo amps. It simulates ok; what practical issues might appear? Is it wise to use different R/C Time constants, so that the second servo settles after the first one? A muting relais seems unavoidable, doesn't it?
thanks,
Rüdiger
