simple question

I always get suspicious if some says "simple question"....

In principle, everything can be connected together at a single point which is then run to the chassis or battery ground.

BUT, what about the source and/or preamp? If you connect the preamp/source ground to a different point, there may be current between the two points, and thus an error signal (noise, switching plops, what have you) and they can act as an additional input signal to the amp.

So, ground your source/preamp at the same point as the power amp!
