Default musical fidelity FX2 info

Hi all,

I'm trying to get info on a Musical Fidelity FX2 amplifier. Was made in 1996 rated at 100W@8 ohms. Serial number V000070. Was purchased in Australia and cost $4000 at the time. Problem is, it doesn't seem to exist! This model is not on the MF website or in their archives or in the forum. Googling only produced a photo on an asian website (in chinese I think). Is it possible this unit is known by another name in the UK? i.e. FX2 is an export designation only?

I haven't got the unit yet but it was moved from one room to another and once reconnected 1 channel not working (mystery as to what happened). My brother took it for repair and has been told it's not fixable, the required components no longer available. Seems a bit unbelievable for such an expensive bit of gear. From browsing the net, my current guess is the power MOSFETs have failed on 1 channel?

Any info about this obscure unit would be greatly appreciated. I'll be getting it in a few days so will update when I've had a look.

Thanks in advance,

cheers

Octane
