Hi,
I just finished constructing a 2x12 cab while waiting for the electronic parts to arrive. I hope they show up soon. C14 in the preamp doesn't have polarity marks. http://sound.westhost.com/p27-f1.gif I've read that a polarized capacitor can be oriented in place of a non-polarized one by putting the positive end on the end with the higher voltage. How can I tell from looking at the schematic, the proper orientation? My guess is that the positive side is the one closest to the OUT. Am I right? Thanks |

I would think the + terminal of the electrolytic capacitor would connect toward the emitter of Q1,that's how I would do it.
I assume Q1 has a positive voltage on its emitter. |

Both emitter and base have negative voltage potential.

You are all correct, I missed the negative supply rail and saw the emitter resistor going to ground.
So of course negative side of capacitor goes to Q1 emitter.
