Save space, generally do DTS decoding or any other decoding, Digital interface(usually), Space saving, remote controlled.

downhere is referring to an integrated amp ....

as far as pre-amp + power-amp, better seperation, generally better power supply in the amp, more power...... in short, generally better, cleaner, sound!
