Default rotel RA414 advice

i have a new to me rotel amplifier and when listening to music before the music plays or on a blank function there is a hiss coming through the amp. is this normal i don't know if this is because my amp is near computers or what but when there is music playing through the amp i don't notice it and the amp sounds really nice.
