I have numerous TO-36 cased transistors.
2N441 DELCO SP672 MOTOROLA 2N173 MOTOROLA and 2N1521 G.E. I need help finding uses for these and specs for the SP672's I have about a dozen of each. Any good ideas? ANy help is greatly appriciated THanks Jeremy |

Yes they are germanium, TO-36 Case, very large, thats for sure. The info is great, Wish i knew what the SP ones are too. Excuse my ignorance, i'm used to Holow state stuff, what is the deal with germanium?

These transistors would have been used in things like power regulators. They are considerably too slow for audio use. Note some of them being in the 10KHz transition frequency region. We like to have them up into the megahertz for audio outputs of any quality.
Consider using them in linear series pass regulators or low frequency switching applications. ...I suppose a subwoofer amplifier is possible. |

But aren't most germaniums s/b limited over darn near all their operating regions? That would make them poor choices for a sub amp - even off a 40 volt supply.

I'm not saying they wouldn't suck... hehe. Just that you're more likely to get something in the LF range than fullrange.

Any one have a schematic for a voltage regulator to use these? Most of the PS's use NPN's as pass transistors. Any ideas?
