About first cycle distortions and memory distortions

Can we see first cycle distortions and memory distortions as the same problems or we are talking of two differents problems ?

And how can we measure first cycle distortions or transient distortions ?

Yes I did, and those subjet was discus separately, but here I much ask if those two kind of distortions are same with different name.

Btw, I was think of using a sine burst to measure transient distortion but how can I made a fft with my soundcard to work with that kind of signal ?
