Sherwood RD-6405R A/V receiver issues

hi,

recently i was given 2 Sherwood RD-6405R's to fix, and my friend only wants 1 back, as the DAC and transformer and variouse other parts from the 2nd amp will be good for other projects...

1ch in one of them was blown (shorted output transistors) and 3 in the other were blown (also shorted, so i decided to just remove a "good" pair of transistors from the "more blown" amplifer and replace that single channel...

well... the amp now turns on and stays on without protecting... and plays music quite well thru 4 channels... the 5th still doesnt work. all i get is the odd little crackle and if i turn it up 2 any reasonable volume the amp protects.
IF i dont plug a speaker into that channel the amp works quite happily and does not protect...

i have tried 2 different sets of transistors (the same pairs of course lol) and it just keeps doing the same thing.
if it is any help the transistors are "D2390/B1560" and i measured a DCV of 56-0-56
Any help would be really appreciated

all is good now... had 2 replace a few 4R7 and .5R
the resistors looked fine but they were open circuit :S
