Anyone any opinions of the use of these things in amps? They take the place of a normal volume pot I believe, was wondering if they offer good sound quality and if there's any negatives to them?

I'm thinking of buying a Creek EVO amp and noticed it used one of these Burr-Brown chips.

You will get people who will say that they are fine, and purists who will insist the pots are better. Practically, I think as long as the design is careful to keep the digital and analogue signals seperate (which is easy to do thanks to the pinout of this chip), there won't be much, if any difference.
