Oscillating Transistors?

I have a bad transistor in the FM IF Board of the HK-330A receiver. It is an 2SA234, a Ge PNP small signal BJT. I got a cross to an NTE160, not wanting to buy ancient old stock. So, what is this oscillating issue and how can I determine if the replacement is a candidate? Can this happen with any transistor in the circuit, or just the outputs?

Here is service manual for the 330A showing the transistor, it is used TR-102 thru TR-105. I have all of them off and am ready to install 3 2SA234 and the 1 NTE, where would chance of oscillating be minimized if it could happen?
