I have build the superreg of Allenwright (for tubes)with a constant current source and a shunt-reg and I like it quite a bit. Now, building a DAC and a Phono-Preamp, I am looking for a similar design which works not only for HV, but as well for 30V or 5 V and giving positive and negative rails.

I have looked around with the search function, but most designs are series regs. As I need only 100-200mA high-quality regged current, I would highly appreciate if the regulator-experts could bring in their knowledge around that.

THX a lot

Shuntregulator

Hi Blitz,
You can use the simple design below. Maybe use a somewhat heftier transistor for the CCS. The diode is a red LED.
I keep asking myself: what is the superiority of the shunt regulator above the series regulator???
