Technics SA500-No Sound

Hi--I'm so stupid, I'm not even sure this is the right forum for my problem, so first thing is, would whoever knows where this belongs, let me kn ow asap so I can post it correctly? thanks

Just rec'd an "old" Technics SA500

When i turn the power on, the green power light comes on, the signal and fm tuner meters react when i turn dials.

Prob: No sound at all.

May be important: I don't have an antenna to hook it up to, so i took one off another radio and attached it. It's one of those hoop/circular type antennas

It's old, prob not worth spending any money on, but it looks like such a quality piece of equip, thought i'd check w/you folks before i toss it

Hi John,

Have you tried getting sound from just the tuner or have you tried hooking up other sources such as a CD player? How about trying through some head phones also? As far as worth spending money on if its in need of repairs, its probably not worth sinking much into it considering they go for under 50 bux on the auction site. PLEASE don't just toss it out if you decide to give up on it. One person's garbage is anothers treasure.
