Having built jlh hood's 30w int amp (cir1980) would be intersted to hear if anyone has built his ealier 75w amp pub in hifi news 1972.Thanks.ps the input stage appears to be unbalanced?

I have built thr 75 watter it was good very good! I used the Powertran kit that was considered to be the Rolls Royce version .
I do in fact still have one about the house and have built many clones of it. I still agree with a lot of the design criteria and feel that a design such as this with Baxendall diode compensation etc as valid also the fact that the VAS stage was isolated from the diff pair via a current booster helped to improve distortion figures below a then magical 0.01% mid band As to the thirty watt amplifier this is very similar to a design that I have made many hundreds of times the themal stabilty of the output stage is superb regards Trev |
