This superb tuner has been 'got at' by yet another unqualified 'engineer'.
There is no sound at all (plus the backlights have failed) As we all know there is no suport for Audiolab products so does anyone have a schematic for this magnificent machine? Any help greatfully recveived |

The power supply caps suffer from high ESR - being an old unit now. Try changing all the small caps in the power supply. The large capacitors should be OK. Use 105 degree capacitors, and the same value in uF of course. I have found on the one that I repaired that the 10uF cap was measuring a whopping 10 Ohms - far too high. Interestingly the caps showed no sign of bulging or leaking which makes it difficult to find the fault unless you have an ESR meter.
Best of luck with it |

Too late . The unit has been returned to the customer unrepaired. I do, incidentally ,have an esr meter and had already checked the power supply caps and LT rails for correct operation. I think the previous 'engineer' put some faults in to the equipment!!! Thanks anyway
