Yes, very odd indeed. I had trouble figuring out what was going on because the amp had failed in a way that just did not make sense.
This amp might have been difficult to fix just because some amateur had already been tinkering with it. It has the telltale signs of amateur repair, including melted insulation on the output wires near the protection circuit, lifted circuit traces, etc.

That's life sometimes. It's also life as I knew it being the Canadian warranty shop for Carver. You would not believe what we saw come in on a steady basis.This amp might have been difficult to fix just because some amateur had already been tinkering with it.
