Were those open frame trimpots or the more substantial Bourns multi-turns?

I'm kind of ham-fisted and find the single turn type hard to cope with, anyway.

Bypass with something like 2.2u + 0.1u.

best way to set bias is with a distortion analyzer at 1w/20khz. you can actually see the crossover notch disappear
