Hi Folks, I asked a simular question a couple weeks ago but I was looking for a Low power Transistor amp and with the help of some of the members here and was able to Build a aprox 20w transistor amp useing a Tip41/42 and a BC550/560 and an OPA627 and had an all Fet Preamp stage and the pelimary tests on this simple design are encourageing.......
But now I have gotten some more transistors and some Mosfets which I would like to use to build a Higher powered amp but I can"t find a design that uses the parts I have available so that Is why I am here asking you guys ......So here are some of the Parts I have available: Power IRF630 N-Ch Mosfet (200v 9A ) 10 Pieces RFP8P08 P-Ch Mosfet (80v 8A) 10 Pieces MJE3055 NPN (60v 10A) 10 Pieces MJE2955 PNP (-60 10A) 10 Pieces Tip125 Darlington PNP (-60v 5A) 5 Pieces Tip 41C/42C NPN/PNP (100v 10A) 1 each Tip30C/31C NPN/PNP 1 each Small signal 2N4401/2n4403 Lots 2n3904/2n3906 Lots BC550/BC560 a few 2N2222 Lots Opamps (IC"s) NE5532 OPA134 TL072 OPA602 OPA627 OPA2277 LM3886 LA6324 JRC 5719 JRC 5005 INA103 INA217 XFormers (Power) 2 x 28v 200vA 2 x 18v 100vA For me it is OK if there are Opamps in the design as it worked out for my Last Transistor amp and it doesn"t need to be High fi and I don"t mind Paralelling several devices....... If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them....... Thanx a Lot Guys & Gals...... Cheers

Sounds like only mid power stuff can be build based on what you have.

Well I"m not looking for a 500w amp or anything Maybe 50w to 100w Max....
I was hopeing to use the 2x28v 200vA Transformer for the PSU (2x40v DC) which I"m sure could only power a 50w or maybe 75w Transistor/Mosfet amp....... Anything in this Power range would be Good , I would be useing it as the Power stage for a Guitar or bass amp and I would have a seperate High Gain Preamp which will have at least 5v-7v of output...... Can someone point me in the Right Direction.??...... Thanx PS: the Amp I just built produces 30w into 4 ohms or 18w into 8 ohms useing a Single Tip41/42(10A at 100V) and a single BC550C/560C and an Opa627 and a 50vA PSU so I"m sure it should be Possible to Paralell a few IRFP630 9A 200v devices to get close to 75w useing a 200vA transformer or Paralell several Tip3055/2955(10A 60v) to get simular power??? |

How about these ?
I have not built either one. I am not qualified to know if used as guitar amp though..?? ----------------- ESP's Death of Zen http://sound.westhost.com/project36.htm ---------------------- JLH Main Page.... http://www.tcaas.btinternet.co.uk/index-1.htm The JLH classA... http://www.tcaas.btinternet.co.uk/jlh1996.pdf Part substitutes.... http://www.tcaas.btinternet.co.uk/jlhtrans.htm =RR= |

What about the ST151?
With 2×28V/200VA transformer in the PSU and using MJE2955/MJE3055s (3 pair pair module - 'cause of SOA). Of course you'll need to check Vceo0 of MJE's. At least 80V needed. |
