Default How to organize model files in LTSpice

I'm trying to google answer to this question, and while it seems putting the spice model in the same directory as your project works just fine, I'm wondering if there's a better/more general way to organize LTspice component model files.

How do you guys do it?

So let's say I downloaded model from Company A, and another model for a different part from Company B. Where's the best way to put these different model files other than the project directory, and where LTspice can still find them?

I don't think there is a good way to organize models. EDA software in general suffers from this problem, but even compared to other EDA programs LTSpice is (in my opinion) mediocre at best for organizing, indexing, and documenting libraries.

I use drop-down menu-symbols for tubes, mosfet, jfets, bjt's, transformers etc. Of course you have to convert your .model files to .subckt files/libraries. Not complicated, just a pain.
