I picked up a copy of a CONEQ demo disk from Real Sound Lab at the NAMM show last week. I thought it was just some lame demo but it actualy contains a useful program. The idea behind thier company is by taking multiple somewhat nearfield measurements and averaging them, it gives the overall power response for the speaker. They then create an inverse correction filter that makes this response flat. The results are a mixed bag. Sometimes better sometimes worse. It might be a handy program for making room measurements while adjusting system levels and EQ. For free, who can complain? Available on thier website.

This is pretty cool - a "well known speaker manufacturer from Chester (PA)" will have the ConEQ technology incorporated into their new DSP.
They will probably make it "official" during Infocomm this year. |
