Just downloaded Nelsons B1 gerber files this afternoon, hoping to have the boards ready by late evening.
BUT: I am unable to view them correctly using ViewMate. The pads are filled, center holes missing (excuse my bad english). So what's wrong? The files? The tool? Me? Please help! BTW: Is there a better tool for the job? Last edited by stephan-schulz; 2nd January 2011 at 06:24 PM. |

That is quite normal - you don't want holes present in Gerber files, to minimize registration issues. There should be a NC drill file included in the Gerber set for automated drilling.
Admittedly this makes it difficult to drill holes when home-brewing boards, as you have no visual targets. Perhaps you could ask the designer of the boards to supply you with a set of Gerbers with holes? |
