Strange that it wouldn't work. I downloaded the 1st version and every one since has been an automatic update. Never unistalled anything. It just updates when I start the software.

So you still have the original version to try again? If that works, the software should take care of updating by itself when you start it.
- Actually, I'd rather talk about what a great place I found Maui to be but I shouldn't hijack the thread .

- I "uninstalled" the original version .
- As a Mac head, one assumed consequence of taking this action, is that the original program is no longer findable on my hard-drive.
- Is my assumption correct or incorrect ?

>< cheers

Ah yes.... how I do miss my Maui home.

Don't know if the origianl software is still there. Did you save the download somewhere or just run it right from the download/browser?

But anyway - I just downloaded the newest version
http://www.holmacoustics.com/downloa...se-1.1.6.6.msi
onto this computer that had no previous install of the software. Had no trouble at all. Installed and running. Win XP.

- Thanks, the above statement gave me one last idea / which panned out for a successful installation .

- I went back to the "Program Files" on my hard-drive and noticed that there was still a folder ( though now empty ) called HOLMacoustics ( or something such ).

- My "uninstall", didn't remove this folder ( this is "strange" to a Mac guy ) .
- Once I sent the orphaned folder to the recycling bin, I was able to successfully run the programs' installer ( & download the latest version onto my computer ) .

- FWIW, the old preferences file ( called "settings" within the program ) was obviously left intact , since the newer version of the software opened up to my previous custom "look" .

>< cheers

Glad you got it running!

Yes, unistallers on Windoze leave a lot to be desired - because they often leave a lot behind! Constant house cleaning is needed.

Default HOLMImpulse directories

Glad to here you could install

HOLMImpulse system directory:
%ProgramFiles%\HOLM Acoustics\HOLMImpulse

Eg.
C:\Program Files\HOLM Acoustics\HOLMImpulse

HOLMImpulse settings directory:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\HOLM Acoustics\HOLMImpulse

Eg.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\HOLM Acoustics\HOLMImpulse

When you uninstall the settings directory is not deleted
(Standard windows procedure... I'm sorry)

I could implement checkboxes asking to clean settings directory also
and delete the system directory.

I wouldn't bother. But someone else might think otherwise!

I prefer that the Settings ( "Preferences" in old MAC vernacular ) remain in place .

I spent some time getting them to my liking .

>< cheers

Hi Ask

The latest version is stable under Vista 64 - thanks. But I don't seem to get any of the pre impulses from the harmonics.

Does the 32 bit versions work on Vista 64 bit???:
HOLMImpulse-1.1.6.6.msi or HOLMImpulse-1.1.6.6-sse2.msi
work on Vista 64? I thought you needed a special 64 bit compiled version.

No pre impulses from the harmonics
1. The measurement save length must equal the signal length
2. You must use log-sweep
3. Try ZoomOut and the dB scale

NB: In the next version of HOLMImpulse you will get an option to autosave the direct correlation as a wavefile for your own analysis

Perhaps post the graph?
