I don't know how I managed to miss this deeply sad news until now. My sincerest sympathies to his family and friends, and though I did not directly meet with him, immensely enjoyed discussing topics and projects with him on the forum. As you said James, he was a true gentleman..and that is the best compliment to give and remember him by.
This news, after some absence from the site myself, has taken the wind out of my sails tonight...sad news, indeed A big loss for the diyAudio community and particularly his family, friends and loved ones.
“Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp’d towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.”
― William Shakespeare, The Tempest

Not news any more.
But sad news to me. I've been busy with other things the past year or so, only sporadically reading up on topics, this is a very big exclamation mark for me, life is indeed very short. I hope he managed to do what he wanted, and liked, during his time here.
