Default Database upgrade today / Site will be down for periods of time

Happy weekend to you all! As part of the current round of server housekeeping, tuning and upgrades (which are going very well so far), the database is going to be upgraded today.

It's a pretty major upgrade and there could be some problems.

The site will be inaccessible for periods of time today.

I will be making copies of the database before each step, however I advise that if you write something particularly worthy today, you save a local copy with you just in case it falls between the cracks.

So, if you have a project you should be working on instead of reading this - today is a good day to spend time on it

A few forum members seem to be quite strange, but I don't think that issue can by fixed by an upgrade soon...
