There will be a new and improved wiki. All data from the old one will be migrated, probably by a team of slaves (including myself), to the new wiki, much as the pyramids were built.

You can add me to the list of slaves. I'm good at cutting and pasting and reformatting.

The idea of tech' articles sounds v.good.
Is there a possibility that we have a place that teaches the basics of electronics/ acoustics etc so that new members can do a bit of research?
Having said that I'm not sure where to start with the actual content of such a section.
People have mentioned praying for you in this thread!!! Good. I will too as that is my job!! (Anglican clergyman.)

Answer: with a computer you only have to punch the information in once!

Super this forum upgrade

Ho pleeeaaase keep the new forum simple for guys like me who can only have low speed internet. Some time wen some forums or web pages get a lift-up they become fill with video, aplets, or heavy java script, etc.. and I can wait lonnng times before the pages are finish to be loaded, some web page even refuse to work if you don't accept active X.

Good luck with that upgrade and tank a lot for this great forum.

As a suggestion, could we have a warmer background color, pale sand color is my prefered one, the current bluish being not very kind to my poor eyes ?

YES, I agree with this. Black against blue/purple is very hard on the eyes.

I find it easy on my eyes lol. White backgrounds are harsh on most LCD monitors, but we're all different.. user-selectable stylesheets would be a very sweet feature.

Forum Software

I'm curious. What software package are you migrating to? I might be able to use it at work so knowing could be very good.

Please don't limit the search function to once every 20 seconds. It's aggrevating if you accidently type in the wrong or unsuccessful search and have to wait to modify it.

Limits like that are imposed on certain functions such as search to help limit how much load any one user places on the server. While slightly annoying, they are there for the common good to ensure a decent level of service for everyone using the site.

In addition to the internal search, the new site will also have a site specific search powered by google. This will no doubt go a long way toward making searching alot easier.

Over the past years we've been planning to upgrade and improve the overall experience of diyAudio. This means updating the software, which is very old.

Hope the process goes smooth for you.
Although I must say that your old software on this
forum actually runs better on this end than some of
the newer software that I experience on many of the
other forums I visit.
