Gainclone, mains filter, and PSU inductance - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi, I am planning to build a "classic" gainclone with LM3886 and 1000uF caps. Trying to make it very small and relatively cheap, hence the simple PSU.

I thought it would be a good idea to use a filtered IEC inlet with an earth choke to remove any high frequency rubbish on the mains, and to stop noise getting in through the safety earth connection (since one of these filters will easily fit in and are not too expensive). But then remembering the point of using the small smoothing caps in the first place is for a low inductance power supply. I was wondering if the filter will add inductance and could it do more harm than good to the sound quality?

I would suggest you try the amp with and without the IEC filter in place. If you don't like it with the filter in place you can always use it for another piece of equipment.
