Audiodigit T100 HCL-m laptop PS - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello all,

I am just about to pull the trigger on the T100 HCL-m from Audiodigit/Autoconstruire. After browsing this forum and the long but intresting thread on this topic (here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/show...&threadid=77411)
I am left with the following newbie question:

Can I use a laptop power adaptor as a PS ? I have several of those laying around, and they are rated at 19.5 V DC 3.34 A. It seems to fit the bill of the recommended supplies. How does it fare with the toroidal trafo from audiodigit and/or batteries ?

Thanks,

Florian

Well, in the mean time I got my answer. It seems that those laptop power adapters are SMPSes with a single (plus) voltage. While at the beginning I was afraid that it wouldn't work it seems that the module needs only a single rail of voltage, as printed in the specs.

Moreover others have tested those power supplies -- albeit with AMP6 from 41Hz. See here: http://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/amp-6n_e.html

More details on the power requirements see here: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/nuukspot/decdun/t_amps.html

Just for the record,

Just curious how you are getting along with this amp? I read somewhere else that you weren't happy with it... something about sandpaper?!

I am interested in it and the A166's... so very similar to your setup.
