Blues clubs in New Orleans? Restaurants? - Click HERE for Original Thread
harvardian
Hello!

My wife and I are going to the Big Easy to listen to some live music. Does anyone have any suggestions for clubs/bars with some blues or "classical" style rock/roll.?

How about nice, but moderate restaurants?

Thanks for any help!

Going in early April. In between the crowds.

There are too many attractions to mention in one post; just for starters: Tiptina's may be the kind of club you're looking for. Watch their website for upcoming events.
A nice "neighborhood restaurant" (more about food than tourism and hype) is Mandina's. It's not shamelessly overpriced like some places in the Quarter, and it will give you a good idea about local cuisine in a no-fuss environment. Try the turtle soup.:D

Near Jackson Square - "The Gumbo Pot" for food
Out near City Park - "Cafe Degas" for food
Just outside French Quarter - "Snug Harbor" for Jazz
I have heard at various times very good unknown groups at Jimmy Buffets place and at the House of Blues.
