switch-on, switch-off sequence for preamp/amp - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am now trying to design some idiot-proofing into my Aikido tube preamp / solid-state power amp system. So far, so good. I have been remembering to switch the power amp on last, and to switch it off first. However, at some point, I am likely to forget to follow this seqence.

Does the order of switch-on-off actually matter? My guess is that switch-off is less important than switch-on.

How difficult would it be to build a sequential power distribution circuit. It would need to have around 60 secs delay on make for the solid-state amp, and maybe 10 seconds delay on break for the preamp.

The Adcom ACE 515 does has a 10 second delay for the power-amp. I don't know if this can be changed by swapping out a relay.

Any ideas?

Preamp on first, off last. If you add a output muting relay, you can forget about that... it needs to mute (short) output until it's warmed up, and likewise mute on power-down..
