| Please help, I have 4 x 8" subs with dual 4ohm voice coils, and I want to add 2 more 6.5" dual 4ohm voice coil subs. The 4x8" are in the trunk and the two 6.5" are mounted in the front doors. I have no time to add another amp, and I want to power all 6 off a mono channel amp capable of 1200 watts x 1 @ 1Ohm. is this possible ? do I need to add resistors ? |

It is possible, you just have to put each sub in parallel, obtaining 2ohm per sub. Then you pair the subs, putting them in series, so 4 ohm per pair. you then parallel all the pairs together for a nominal impedance of 1/(1/4+1/4+1/4)=1.33 ohm.
The only trouble I see with that is that your front subs might not have the same efficiency as you subs in the trunk causing them to not play loud enough or too loud and you won't have anyway to adjust their loudness...
Hope this helps!

Sébastien | Good, is there a schematic I can follow while I'm standing on my head? There are alot of nice wiring diagrams out there, but none of them cover this type of arrangement, also I'm wiring handicapped, I love installing stuff, but I get confused with the whole series / parallel stuff. |
