Hi,
there some troubles using 1/4W carbon resistors instead metal film resistor in A30?
If is only a problem of tollerance, I can selected the resistor to find the exact value.

if you like it-just go for it
in range of 5%,even tolerance isn't a problem |

The carbon R is good for the vintage.
I have also heard that the carbon R contains more noise.

hi,
is not for their "sound" (somebody say that carbon resistors sounds better..) but because I can find only carbon resistors with the right dimensions for Peter Daniel's board

| You can always use regular resistors and mount them vertically. |

Hi,
I wouldn´t use normal carbon resistors. You can use 1/8 watt metall film in most places and they will fit quite nicely.
With carbon the tempco is higher, the noise is higher there´s a difference in sound.

This is not a bad idea. I have studied a bit the circuit, seem to me that all resistors over 1K works under 1/8 W power.
A bit critical, maybe, are the two 1.5K resistors (R17,R18)
Is that correct?

Hi,
there´s not much current flowing through R17/18 them so I would try.
How come normal 1/4 wat metallfilm don´t fit? I use standard ones wich are just 6-7mm long.

Hi,
I don't have physically the Peter Daniel's board, but looking the plot seems that the distance between holes is 5mm (more or less).
