With not much success I am trying to fix PG Ti 800.1 amp. Power supply worked from beginning. I noticed, that small SMD LED's on driver's part of board were both off. Flexed a board a little, they lit up - bad contact. Inspected with magnifying glass - nothing, resoldered all SMD's - now both LED's are always on until I flex a board little harder
But amp still isn't working right - it started to amplify signal, but output is very low and distorted. Q114 transistor (C4793) is getting pretty hot very quickly. Checked all SMD's & TO92's on driver board - all seems to be fine. I appreciate any help. Thank you. |

| Have you tried to get the schematic from PG? |

Recently I repaired a PG TI 500.4. Check all the resistors, some of them are like fuses (infinite resistance).

PG does not release documents. I have friends that work there and still no doc's..:) :) :)
PG has very reasonable flat rates. See linky below

Hehe, no way ;)
Spent about 6 hours working on it  and... it works!!!
List of what was wrong:
- 1 leaky transistor on driver board
- 1 open and 2 significantly out of spec resistors (thanks, Bertje!)
- damaged trace on board
I am happy :p

When you mentioned your flex issue was when I thought it was best sent to PG. Thats a tough thing to tech out on the internet, you did well.
Congrates on your successful completion of repair you saved a bunch of money, and time shipping. :) :) :) :) |
