Cross referencing Toshiba transistors - Click HERE for Original Thread
Stuey
Hi guys,

I'm new to refurbishing older amps, and need some transistors to replace 2 Toshiba complimentary pairs of 2SA1263 and 2SC3180.

Has anyone any suggestions of currently available transistors that will suffice? I'm not sure if the cross referencing on various websites is reliable enough.

Which parameters must be matched in the replacements?

Cheers and thanks

Hi,

Pin pitch, Power, Ic, Vce0, SOA @ rail voltage, hFE, Ft, Cob, or exceeded if a close match is not possible.

Although a lower Cob would be preferable ;)

If the devices are TO247/TO3P case then Toshiba's 2SA1943/2SC5200 will be fine, as will Motorola's MJL3218/MJL1302 or MJL21193/MJL21194.

Both bdent and MCM have these in stock. I would recommend BDEnt if you need a specific gain range (not sure if these particular transistors have different gain classes or not... MCM is clueless when it comes to that however).

Thanks for the replies.

The package is SOT-93, so I'm assuming the TO-247 legs can be manipulated to fit... Not only that, but my usual electronics store has them.

I have heard of one repairer using TIP2955/TIP3055 (which is in the same case - SOT-93) but I'm assuming the Motorolas are more suitable? They are certainly more expensive! Still, I'd prefer quality. This is a gift repair for someone.

Pars, I'll have a look at those links. I didn't think the originals were still available.

Cheers again.

SOT-93 is basically TO-3P is basically TO-247.

3055/2955 devices are a cheap and poor replacement not upto the spec of the original devices.
Stuey
Thanks Richie...I appreciate your input.

As for the format, I've found that it's correctly a TO-3P case anyway; I was wrong.

I'll try the links Pars gave, otherwise I'll buy the local Motorolas. I meant above that my local store has the MJL21193/21194. At least at AU $9 and $11 each respectively, they are probably genuine...!

the 21193 is nowhere close to the Tosh 1263.

I thought you asked for an equivalent.
Stuey
I asked for a replacement that will suffice. I'm assuming that Richie listed those because they exceed my requirements...?

In any case, the links Pars provided both list the originals. I'll try them first.

Thanks everyone

I listed the alternative devices in order of preference. The MJL2119x devices whilst not stellar performers are very robust and will be fine as replacements. Certainly a lot better than 3055/2955 ones.

Richie,

No worries, I appreciate your help. It turns out I finally got a reply from a local supplier who stocks the correct Toshibas at a good price. I didn't think I would...

They also have the small Toshiba TO220's in the same amplifier stage.

Thanks again to all of you.

Howdy again,

This amp has also has two pairs of 2SD2033(E) and 2SB1353(E) which seem OK but I've decided to replace as well, but I'm having trouble finding them or even their data sheet.

Can anyone help with a possible alternative?

Cheers

Stuey
