HI,
I was wondering if this would be a suitable transformer to use for a chipamp. It seems to have quite a bit of current capeability and a large variety of outputs with multi primary choices too. http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=16153+TR
I was looking at the datasheet found here .... http://www.mpja.com/download/14466tr.pdf
but i couldnt really make sense of their charts for the voltage selection. At $20 a piece though you cant really go wrong.
If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated as this is my stumbling block when building my project.
i assume that they are unsheilded, so i wold probably get some aluminum sheeting to form a sheild for them, or just house them separately, idk.

Just fond these after i posted... but they have ct 12-0-12 @ 10A supplies for $17 each..... im sure there is a way to use two to get 24-0-24 (@ 20A i think ) out of them.... im praying that this is a cheap solution for large toroidal transfo. i will be running a 5 chanel (biamped) speaker system and i need all the power i can get for cheap :D

I think your best bet is a toroidal trafo. http://www.hammondmfg.com/182.htm
You will need between 160VAC and 300VAC. Rather large for the power of the chip amp.
Voltage is dependent on chip and speakers, 4 or 8Ohms.
No shielding is needed. |

yeah, probably....
But toroids are expensive, and im working within a budget.... Ive read that separate transfos per channel (monoblock type configuration) is always best.... so in that respect, getting multiple small transformers would be nice....
maybe im wrong, hopefully i can get some more opinions. |
