Hello,
I was able to get few old, outboard CD-Roms and Hard drives. Each unit has a very nice metal enclosure which can be used for small amplifiers or pre-amps. Inside of each case is a switching power supply and noise suppressor. Basically, the noise suppressor is a combination of power cable input jack ( computer style detachable power cable ) and small metal box with suppressing circuit. They look very nice and compact. Did anyone try to use them in their DIY preamps or headphone amps? Does it make any sense to use them to suppress main power noise to boost quality of the sound?

| I'd be worried about the size of the capacitors and coils in a circuit like that, they probably weren't meant to carry a lot of current in their original app. |

| Thanks for answers. Yes neutron7, they look the same. I have also three much bigger, which came from server power supplies. I thought to use them in power supplies for chip amp. based preamps. |

| well if it is for a server power supply i think it could take plenty of current. i am using them for lm3886 Chip amp and a pre amp. |
