Hi there,
I just got a pair of replacement drivers for a Mirage BPS-100 subwoofer.
Does anyone know where I can find any specifications on them? The person I bought them from didn't know anything about them other than the model they were used in.
I've found the manual for the model: http://www.miragespeakers.com/PDFs/...PS100manual.pdf
On the back of each driver is a sticker with the following printed on it:
4DR51803-A
P95B3
MADE IN CANADA
They each weigh about 1.1kg and the diameter of the metal frame is 16.5cm
Does anybody know anything about these drivers?
By extension, does anyone have any cabinet suggestions for them.
They'll be used along side a pair of full range speakers using tangband W3-871 drivers. The cabinet details are described on http://www.zaphaudio.com/archives.html
As far as cabinet size/porting , I have no preferences. I know it will depend on the characteristics of these drivers.
I presume I'm going to need a plate amp for them and am looking at either the CSS SUB 100 http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=SUB100
or the CSS BASH 300
http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=BASH300
I'm not looking for or expecting mind-numbing bass out of them. Most or the music we listen to is symphonic and acoustic with a healthy dose of Tom Waits.
If anyone has any information about the drivers and any suggestions about the cabinet size, I love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

| Well as a guess, in the manual it states the external dimentions why not built a replica. |

Thanks for the suggestion
I'd thought of that but from looking at the specs I don't know if the box is ported or not, if the speakers are in series or parallel.
I also can't tell how the inside of the cabinet is arranged. |

Some info the its Bipolar nature.

It looks to be a sealed unit.
If you want to know about series or parrallel wiring get a multimeter and measure the impedence of one of the drivers, that will then tell you what your options are. |

After some hunting, I found a deal on an amp for this subwoofer project and just picked up one of CSS' amp, the http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=SUB250R
As I still haven't found any real specification on these drivers, I've decided to reproduce the original subwoofer cabinet as much as I can.
Does anyone know if the cabinet's interior would be one continuous space or if there's a wall dividing the interior into two separate cabinets?
Any suggestions on how much stuffing should be put in the cabinet? |
