SMPS-PWM design with bipolar supplies - Click HERE for Original Thread

When making an SMPS supply using a PWM controller IC and two NFETs for switching, many of the topologies use a high-side driver to drive the upper FET, and the low-side FET is referenced to ground; this assumes that the ouptut voltage needed is positive.

What solution is there if a negative output voltage is needed for high power designs? Is there such a thing as a PWM controller for negative voltages, while still using NFETs?

I'm a newbie to SMPSs, but I'm almost perfectly sure that there is. It wouldn't make sense that there wouldn't be one...:smash:

This site is unvaluable when it comes to smps theory and calculations.
