Can anyone out there identify these power capacitors?

If it wasn't clear enough - the capacitor colours are metallic red and grey-white.
Markings on the capacitor are as follows -
on one side:
'Elna' (brand obviously)
'(M)' (??)
'16V/2200uF' (rating obviously)
and on the other side:
'CE105C' (temp rating I believe)
'9722' or '9714' (batch numbers perhaps?)
'S' (S is within a circle)
Anyone? |

M appears to signify A tolerance of +-20%
Not sure about the 'S' though.
The Elna website is quite thorough but I'm sure that you have already looked there.
A useful guide to cap markings is at the bottom of this page:

Is this Elna's standard range? I've only ever used cerafines or Silmics myself but I like the pretty colours on these.:D |

I came close with the Elna 'Starget' series (exact same colours!), but my capacitors are not labeled 'Starget'. Only '(S)'
I just sent an email to Elna America - we'll see how this pans out. |

Thanks for your reply! These caps are ancient. I will not feel bad replacing them. |

| Replace them? Why? They're less than ten years old. I've got electrolytic caps approaching thirty years that are working just fine. |

| They can be seen on some motherboards. |

I have since replaced them with Panasonic FCs and FMs - now at least I know that that was not a bad decision.
Damon, my experience with electrolytics in general has led me to err on the side of caution. In contrast to you, I've seen caps in old tube testers go dry in just 30 years too! :) |

Hi
Your capacitors seem to be Elna with a 105 degree c rating. The 105 degree rating means that they are high quality parts. I doubt that you will find a better capacitor than a 105 )c elna - I never have.
