I want to replace the output on my PlayStation as CD player. As it is now I use a high-pass network, cap and grounded resistor. I want to get rid of it and replace it with a 600:600Ohm line transformer.
When I replace the cap and resistor with the trafo I get lots of hiss and sound is really, really low. At first I thought there was a short or I had hooked up the trafos wrong since there was no sound at all. I had to crank up the volume to hear anything. It works when I hook up the transformer after the cap. But it's the cap I want to get rid of. The grounded resistor I have no problem with.
I assume this is caused by DC. If that indeed is the case and the trafo assumedly gets saturated, can this be solved by using a different trafo? Then what should I look for in the trafo? Examples would be nice.
I don't know if it matters. But I use the trafos unbalanced. |
