Anyone used Victoria Magnetics transformers in a project? They have a 40-0-40V, 640 VA, 120 VAC primary toroid that seems like it would make a good supply for two NX150 amps. Just trying to get some feedback.

Hi Bama Slamma
I just checked out their web site, their quality looks good and they seem to support the DIY Audio community.
I would say go for it... What is the price for the transformer you have quoted? |

They quoted $82.00 US for the 640 VA unit.

That's a good price for that size of transfomer.... ;)

I sent an email that never received a response. I tried to call them but only got an "automated answering service." I wonder if there are actually any real people working there.

I had a similar disappointing experience with them. Many members of this forum like their transformers but, even though I was ready to order from them, never got an answer. I ordered instead from Plitron (www.plitron.com) and have also purchased Avel Lindberg transformers from Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com). I would rather do business with companies that display a professional and courteous attitude towards their customers.
Maybe this one will fit your application.

That transformer would be perfect for my application. Thanx for the tip. Most effective advertising: word of mouth. If I wanted to, I could configure the dual primary to run the amp on 240V. But that seems unnecessary unless it's a real high powered amp. I'll just use it at 120V.
