tranformer's magnetic flux - Click HERE for Original Thread

in EI cores is the magnetic flux higher on the sides or front/back?

trying to figure out the best placement ( at least I hope it would be the best) of the transformers.

Depends. I found an easy way to do a rough check using a small neodymium magnet. With the transformer powered up, hold the magnet between your fingers about 2-3 inches from the transformer and make a slow circle around it. In some places the magnet will vibrate more, in some places less. Where there's less vibration there's less magnetic flux getting leaked.
